I received my box of 140 gr TSX for my 270 WSM yesterday and will do some pressure tests to see if I can throw out some Max loads tonight.

Anyone loading this bullet in their 270WSM? Whats your load, what velocity and accuracy and have you killed any game with it yet? How did it perform?

I'll let you know how the development goes through out the week.

Had pretty good results first time out.

I walked up to max listed loads with 3 powders and each of the 3 max loads shot about an inch or a little under and velocity was over 3100 fps each. kind of makes it hard to focus on one powder though.

RL22, H4831, H1000

Kind of nice using the X. Usually my OAL Gauge reads way too long for my mag in my T3. Seating the X back the .050 they suggest gives me the perfect fit for the mag.

i just bought a 270 wsm a month ago, I have shot 100 rounds of factory through it, I am just starting to reload, will have all the equipment in a couple of weeks, and already have a box of 140 tsx's and a box of 140 accubonds ready to go, so I'll be interested in any replies, and will let you know how I make out...

My gun in T3 Lite is a pretty good shooter so far, shot a 2.5" 15 shot group with factory at 100 and a 5" 15 shot group at 300, hope it will be better once I get some good handloads...

My 270 WSM load is a little different, I've been using 130 gr TSXs and I saw 2 kills from this bullet last year on mule deer. Excellent terminal performance on both. My muzzle velocity is about 3220 fps with RL 19, but I've read a lot about guys having really good results with 140 gr TSXs and Magpro powder.

Retumbo powder works very good. I have yet to try my 140TSX reloads but the results with 140gr Accubonds has been phenomenal. Great load that BigRedd shared shooting same rifle -Tikka T3 SS, and mine is the LS version. 3200+ft/sec velocity. As mentioned, MagPro posting some good results also. Sure would like to try the new XP3 bullet if it comes available to reloaders for my 270WSM and my 300WM

Can I please get a COL for .270 WSM? The data I have is for powder and bullets, but not dimensions.

I loaded my first batch yesterday with some 140 gr Nosler Solid Base BT's with an overall length of 2.82" but that is a guess only and may be long. I have not tried to chamber them in my rifle (Weatherby Vanguard) but did read a bit of advice that the cartridge needs a bit of freebore because of the pressure ie don't get the bullet right into the lands.....

Anybody have a dimension for me? Thanks.

Doug

For tight groups in my 7mm wsm 140gr noslers under .250 at 100y
try H4831 at near max app.3100+fps
For hunting lots of Magpro 140gr partitions 1/2 just under 3300 fps and magpro has least pressure. wxr & 4350 din't work good in my gun a 1/9 twist but that's not to say it wound't work in yours

good luck

I also have a 270 WSM, I just bought a Browning Ti. I am also looking at reloading my own and have been researching what powder to use. I was going to use MagPro but am not able to find anyhere in Saskatchewan. So I am now considering Ramshot Magnum. I have not seen anybody referring to this powder, is that a sign or what.

Doug:
Hodgdon's list for the COAL with a 140 bullet is 2.800 to 2.850.
All of this is moot if it doesn't fit the mag or reliably feed.
I loaded some 140 Accubonds today and found with 69 grains of Retumbo, following Hodgdon's COAL, that it is a slightly compressed charge.
