Hi,
Wondering if the 28 day mandatory wait period is business or calender days? The lady on the CFC help-line mentioned it was counted in business days, but I had thought otherwise..?

My RPAL was "issued" exactly 28 calendar days after the CFC received my application. (I sent it via registered mail, so I know exactly when they got it.)

My guess is that they have something in their computer system that enforces this because mine showed up as "issued" on the CFC website on July 2nd, which I think is technically a stat holiday.

See http://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/regulations/SOR-98-199/page-2.html?term=28#s-5. for the specific regulation. They ought to be counting the 28 days from when the application is postmarked, but they don't.

So, since my 28 day wait ends tomorrow.. what can I do to get it moving along? Already called in and had my references call in, so can I request they send my app to the CFO?

Did you check the status online? Does it say "in progress"? That's what mine said until day 28. It could be that it is all done, and as soon as it has been 28 days (from the day they received it) then the status will change to "issued."

If you are in BC and getting an RPAL, then I suggest you call in as soon as it is "issued" and ask them to give your license number over the phone so you can start your LTATT application (which will take another 4-6 weeks).

It is now set as issued, does it still have to go through my CFO or is it already in the mail? I better start on that LTATT..

Issued means it is "in the mail," though mine was not actually postmarked until about 3 days after it was marked as "issued" online.
