In answer to your queston. To the best of my knowledge the answer is no.Slugs can be used in any 28 gauge barrel but there are no slug barrels like there are for the 12 and 20 gauge like the Ithaca Deeslayer.

Would love some 28 gauge slugs. However don't reload, any one know of some available?

I'm not much help but I picked up some just by asking some of the older gun shop owners what they may have kicking around in old shotgun ammo.
I was not even aware they were made until 28 gauge who posted above told me he also found a couple of boxes at a gun show.
If you have some older shops in your area I would start there. Good luck

Ya know, I started a thread a while back and got ridiculed for it, but here goes again: I don't know why someone doesn't make a rifled 28 ga. slug gun designed for sabot slugs. You could easily use a 350 gr. bullet, similar to what is used in 12. ga sabot slugs, you could get identical performance, depending on powder used, and it would be a smaller, handier gun. A win-win in my humble opinion. Heck, you could probably chamber it in 2 1/2 in. and make a neat little semi or lever gun, roughly the same size as a regular rifle, but legally a shotgun. I know I'd buy one for where I hunt, and I suspect they would catch on in the States as well, as they have quite a few Shotgun-only areas and seasons.

About the closest thing I've found is .54 cal. ML barrel vs. .55 cal./bore dia. of a 28 gau. Might cause a bit of a pressure problem for sure unless you reload and swage the slugs to size - what do you think? For all the ammo. one would use it might be worth a try. --- John303.

Could be worth a try. If you use pure lead, and start off with a light load, pressure probably wouldn't be an issue. I would like to see a specially-designed 28-ga with rifled barrel, though. It just seems like it would be a great little gun, handier than a 12 or 20, and just as powerful.

I don't see how a 28 would be just as powerful as a 12 or 20 gauge sabot slug even with the same size projectile. You can still burn more powder in the larger gauges at a given pressure. Or maybe I'm missing something?

After much searching for these, looks like Brenneke has finally come up with a 28 gauge slug. Brenneke sl-282! Now to find a supply in Canada....
