28 Gauge Wingmaster

I would love to find a gently used one as the new ones are north of $800 which is a pretty big nut for a pump gun, and a Remington pump gun at that ;)

Thanks,

Patrick

I hear you but you are talking a 28ga wingmaster they have always been rare and you get what you pay for in this case. Best shotguns I own is my 28ga wingmasters and I have a few shotguns. What do you think a vintage used one goes for??? I may have seen two for sale here used in the past two years one of which I sold . That went for 750 shipped. Lasted maybe 30 minutes and I had about 3 others in that time frame wanting it. The two extra wingmaster 410's I sold went the same way all over 700.
I still have three wingmasters in 28ga a factory skeet, fixed mod and a new one with choke tubes but those I am dying with. I would suggest you look hard at the new with the choke tubes since if you buy one without them down the road you will probally want them fitted which means a trip to Briley in the US and all of $275 being spent. Epps has a new browning BPS in stock in 28ga for low 600's. Have one of those also and no issues at all with it. Plus it has the choke tubes. If you want to talk high price for a pump 28ga check out an ithaca model 37 like 1100 plus taxes etc
take care and all the best in your search

I actually owned one of the newer ones with Briley chokes for a few years and I loved it. I sold it in a moment of weakness and that is why I am now trying to find one. It was a great gun, nice pice of reddish walnut and the engraved receiver. I picked it up new from Epps for $549 after they liquidated a Quebec gun store that shut down. It was a great gun, a fantastic deal and I was a complete fool for selling it. I even offered the original buyer more than what I paid for it,

The newest production of these guns are not that impressive to say the least, pedestrian wood orange walnut, rougher machining/metalwork and I have developed a slight mistrust in Remingtons quality control as of late.

Thanks,

Patrick

My choke tube one sounds like the same vintage as yours. What ever year they reintroduced it I would have to check, I ordered one in right away. 549 was a gift for that gun as you know. If you are looking to replace it exactly best be ready to part with 700 plus min for used. If you just want the 28ga 870 feel again you can also pick up an express used here the odd time for 400.
I have one of those also that I use when I am going into brush that would beat the crap out of my wingmasters and it has never given me any problems either. I also don't see the quality issues with the remington small bore 870's like the 12ga, seems they take more time with the fits etc for sure . I know all about that weak moment and selling a 28ga off that 25 years later I still not have been able to replace. It was a match pair I had. I did replace the matched 1100's I sold at the same time but have not been able to land the 870 set again. All I have left of it is the original rem green case they came in.
Take care
