Just watched it. In a couple of the stills or original snap shots i see the Canadians with M1carbines with poara folding stocks.

I got the bring backs of a Korean war vet (Canadian) who was an artillery officer. he had a 1911 (Remington Rand) and a M1 Carbine, with folding stock. I never thought toa sk him why he had American kit.

It was filmed at 4 Division Training Centre (formerly Land Force Central Training Area) in Meaford, ON.

The majority of the "actors" were Reservists from the Grey & Simcoe Foresters.

You beat me to it! It was quite an interesting setup that they had there for the film shoot. Good thing that the snow held off for the most part or that could have really messed things up.
