I was wondering can a .280 AI die be used to seat bullets into a regular .280 case. For example if i had some new .280 brass and just wanted to load it to fireform could i use the AI die or do i need a stardard .280 seating die? I'm aware the sizing dies are diffrent but can i get away with it on seating dies?
Thank you to all who respond.

Cheers, Justin

I can't see why not, back in the day Hornady made a generic seating die for 7mm as well as a generic neck sizing die. You may get more bullet runout but for fire forming cases this should not pose a problem.

I see no problem with a regular seating die, but you might run into trouble with a forster benchrest seater due to the sliding (spring loaded) portion that lines up the case getting misaligned or not seating properly.
Still, they might be good enough for fireforming.
