280 Rem to 338-06

I have a 280 Remington that I am thinking of having bored out to build my 338-06. Will this work or will I have some sort of weird case like a 338-280?

Is not the 280 basically a 7mm-06. Simply replace the barrel with one chambered for 338-06 and you have one. Feeding and everything else would be the same as magazine and bolt are already set to take the parent 30-06 case in the 280 rem. Am i missing something here?

The .280 Rem/7mm Express Rem is a necked down .30-06 with the shoulder moved forward 50 thou, but it'd likely cost less to change the barrel. Depending on what rifle you have. That's only about how common .338 barrels are for whatever rifle you have.
