I have an old .280 Ross that has been handed down a couple generations. It has not been fired in decades. My grandfather complained about problems getting quality ammo for it.

Does any one know of availability on ammunition?

Any thoughts on the rifle? I understand they are collectors piece now.

I read about an issue with the bolt coming loose if not assembled properly. Any recommendations on how to check for this, prior to shooting it of course?

Appreciate any insights you guys can offer.

When the bolt is properly assembled, the locking lugs are well out in front of the body. You will see the head rotate to lock as the bolt closes.
If the locking lugs are right up against the body when the bolt is open, assembly is incorrect, and the head cannot rotate to lock.
About the only practical source of ammunition is handloading. As a matter of fact, today's mail just brought a set of dies.
