Thought I would give lots of warning so that you can book travel and/or build new toys. Looking for feedback from the attendees to decide the details.

Timing will be the weekend before or after the Burns Lake shoot (end of April beg of May). Shooting on Crown land so the BMG is ok.

You are responsible for where your bullets land.

No restricted firearms, no drugs or booze. No tracers or any bullet that will combust or spark a fire - very dry area. Earing and eye protection is a must - lots of muzzle braked boomers.

Max 20 shooters.

Will need tables, chairs, and spotting optics. Tents/awnings would be nice as it can get very hot and/or rainy. The more gear we have, the more shooting everyone gets to do. Clay pigeons, balloons/jugs, swinging targets are up to you to bring (can only use at the shorter distances of 700 to 800yds). Must be something that can be cleaned up after, if it doesn't dissolve/rot.

Most of the time, we will be shooting boulders on the hillsides.

Going for two days this time. Can get motel info and maybe swing a discount since this is off season. Restaurants and pub nearby.

Saturday: Meet up 8am in Summerland. Get out to the spot and hopefully be shooting by 9:30. Will need FRS radios if we get a bunch of shooters to aid in range control. Shoot till late afternoon.

Shortest is approx 500yds and you can shoot to one mile. I will have a portable target stand so you can sight in at closer range. However, getting your scope shimmed properly before hand is greatly advised.

I can organize reservations for a group pub or restaurant dinner. Both are non smoking. You can stumble back to the motel from either location.

Sunday: Meet up 8am. If there is interest, we will do some extreme range shooting in the morning. Out to at least 2500yds (yes, you read that right). I think we can squeeze in 3000yds. Afternoon, will be whatever everyone wants to shoot.

If there is sufficient extreme range shooters, I will go range the hillside and post distances to probable targets so that you can get your ballistics charts in the right ballpark. Min distance is at least 1000yds.

End mid afternoon. Clean up and head home.

Let me know if you are interested in coming. Post your thoughts on what you would like to do and I will try and accomodate.

Hi Jerry,

You know I'll be there again, only this time I'll be driving out from Calgary. I have spoken to Bob he will be there as well. We'll bring pretty much the same gear(tables, targets, optics...) only this time I'll make sure the rangefinder has new batteries.

ivo, if all goes well, your Lapua may be the small cannon at this party :)

Bring lots of elevation. Interested in going past 1 mile?

Jerry

I wouldn't mind having the "small" gun, it would just be great to get out see some old faces, meet some new ones and do a bit of shooting. Last year was a lot of fun, thanks again!

I would like to see Brian come down from Ft. Mac with some of his toys, its always cool seeing other peoples gear.

Ivo

BTW: Going past a mile? If the conditions are right.... Hey, why not?

Hmmmmm....

If Long Range Canuck can make it......

Best I can do at the moment would be a 308 or a 22-250........:(

Max Im sure your .308 and 22-250 will make some great long range shots, and if it makes you feel better you can push a few rounds through my rifle.;) :D but I don't think it's about what you bring, it's about going out and haveing a great couple of days with some good people having fun shooting and sharing of information and beers.:D:dancingbanana: I haven't tried out a .338 Lapua yet so if IVO is bringing his and knowing what a few other members here have I think this is going to be an awsome learning experiance and hoot for all of us. I will have to remember to fluctuate Danger Deb's loads a few grains....hate to have her outshoot me in public.:p :D

LR Shoot

Hi Jerry,

This is absolutely fantastic shooting and learning opportunity.
Unfortunately, a bit too costly and far away from Montreal :) :)

However, maybe some other CGNers (eastbound ) could get some ideas and we could setup something similar.

Longest previous shooting experience was at only 1540 yds.

Couldn't get the magic one mile distance spot (safely) in our area.

Have fun!!!!!!!!

regards, claude.

Lucky bugger.

A little too far ahead to get a firm date. I like to be near the Burns Lake shoot so that anyone traveling, can do both shoots.

However, weather plays a pretty important role so if winter is dragging its heals, I will put it off later.

Since I will be limiting the number attending so that we can all get lots of trigger time, please post your interest. There is about 6 shooters in the OK Valley so there will be room for 14 others.

Bring lots of ammo and scope elevation. I can range to a very long ways (my WILD will go 20km).

Now how do we get a license for GPS guided shells?????
Jerry

LRC, both actually but that is a good thing.

Was watching a Discovery show on these GPS artillery rds. 22miles, 90sec time of flight, inside 7yds - Kaboom. That's cool.

Now aim 4 MILES OFF TARGET, another 90secs, 5yds from target - Kaboom.

THAT IS REALLY REALLY COOOOOLLLLLL!!!!!!!!

Hopefully, this means reduced collateral damage or friendly fire incidents and more bad times for the bad guys... I wonder if these shells can be used to hit moving targets????

Jerry

bushrat, thanks. I am also waiting to see what the Kamloops schedule will be for next year. They also have an F class shoot around the same time.

Once that is posted, I will make a firm date pending snow.

I do believe I will try and make it this year. If I can get a definate date before the end of this year I can get the time off. Would probably only bring the .300 win mag and lots of bullets and elevation.
