I finally was able to get some information on the older Remington pump firearms from a gentleman named Tom Hemphill who has sort of taken up on Remington research since the passing of Gene Myszkowski and Ken Blauch with previous data ending about 2006 with Blauch's book. When the 141 production ended in 1950 since that time even Remingtons date of manuf site still lists Serial# 76881 as last made which had me confused as I have # 77336 with a dom of April 1950. Mr Hemphill has data showing that up till October 1950 141's were made with the highest known serial # now at 79764.
I bought this 20 years ago as an unfired .35/141. I have not been tempted to shoot it as I have other 14's in .35 that I do use. Unfired might not exactly be true as the second squiggly mark on the right side of barrel by (rem) I believe indicates test fired at factory, but I would say not shot by previous owner.
It just appears to be a ordinary 141 made in April 1950, last year of production before the 760 introduction. It also has a slightly different rear sight than I have run across with a elevator lock screw rather than just a blade. Also the AI- ammunition indicator- was left without the "primer filler" after 1922, so where this one was installed I have no idea.
Now what has me baffled is that any books, lists or records-even the one on CGN 'date your firearm' lists serial #76881 as the last known and recorded serial #. This one is 77336, 455 beyond even what Remington has recorded as the highest serial # of their 141 last shipped!
