Hey CNG! A few months back I bought an ar-15 (restricted) and got a long term ATT. Today I picked up my 2nd restricted firearm, in this case a handgun. I got a short term ATT to move it from the store to my house. Now here is my question.. Does 1 ATT work with all restricted firearms? Like can I go to the range tomorrow with my handgun? Or do I need to apply for a 2nd ATT? I'm in BC, if that matters.

There should be an ATT generated automatically when you bought the firearm. It's specific to the gun. It'll be in the mail, en route to you.

If you're DYING to get to the range, you can probably get the CFO to fax/E-mail your LTATT to you so you can have a copy on hand.

EDIT: not completely accurate, see my next post.

no no no , before you take anyones advice READ THE CONDITIONS ON YOUR LTATT. you only need one but conditions vary from province to province

True, but it needs to be the most current one. Check page 2 - it has a section that lists the registration certificate numbers of the firearms you're authorized to transport.

The OP's original LTATT will only list the registration for the AR, since that was the only restricted he had at the time. It does NOT list the registration for his new handgun. The new LTATT, for the handgun, will list BOTH the registrations, for the AR and the handgun.

I just double checked, and the ATT for my M&P has just the one number, the ATT for my new Buckmark includes both numbers.

It's mainly semantics, but you don't want to be the guy caught with an ATT that doesn't cover all your restricteds! I carry both LTATT's myself, just to make sure I've got ALL my bases covered.

At least, that's how mine works in Manitoba. Can't say if other provinces are different, somehow.

Check your fine print, your ATT might be different from the rest of ours.

For example, mine is valid for all firearms for which I possess the registration certificate. Other people have ATTs that only apply to a specific firearm or list thereof.

I swear the CFOs do this intentionally so we have east coasters giving advice that's unnecessary, and west coasters giving advice that can get people arrested. That's not a shot at anyone here, it's just how it is. People in the east have special restrictions that we don't have over here.

.......get rid of the C.F.O.s and the A.T.T.s.
:agree:

To the OP. The wording on LT-ATT's vary from province to province according to the whim of the CFO's. It is important that you read YOUR LT-ATT carefully. You say you are from BC, my BC LT-ATT states I can transport ANY restricted firearm, even firearms that are not registered to me. But I must have the registration certificate for each restricted firearm that I am transporting. My restricted firearms are NOT listed on my LT-ATT.

In your case, you shouldn't need a new LT-ATT but again, read your LT-ATT carefully.

The LTATT says I need to have the registration cert for the restricteds being transported.

And yet when I called the Ont. CFO to ask if I could take my last handgun purchase to the range even though my registration cert. had not come yet, I was told as long as I had my transfer notice because it has the same info anyway, it was ok.

Anytime you have a question like this, call the CFO 1 800 731 4000 , even if you just curious about something, call them. I JUST made this call before, FYI, you need to be part of a gun club to purchase, but not to own, so if your membership runs out, no worries.
