Well our season opened the other day for Umingmak(muskox) and I'm going early this year ... not gonna wait til March/April like last year ... I'm planning on going next weekend ... which rifle do you think I should use ...

Springfield M1A?
Springfield M1 Garand?

I shot my 1st Umingmak with the M1A ... I'm thinking of going open sites with the Garand??

I haven't set up my re-loading equipment yet for 30-06 and I don't have any bullets to reload anyway. I have to purchase locally and there are 150 and 180 gr powerpoints ... I figured I'd go with the 180 grainers as they'll pack a bit more punch ... bit more oooommmffff to knock my umingmak down don't you think? :D

How many pounds do they weight? I use 150 grains on sea lions up to about 1500 lbs. Anything bigger I have a 458 winch/375 H&H/338 winch back up. The gun of choice is norinco/poly tech m14/s.....not a big loss if they get wet. Usually coat them in vasoline for salt water protection. Also have used M1 garand 3006 and 308. But, garands

Pink 10/22 with matching winchester hollow points and a pink aviator scarf as well as sun glasses oh and a pink feather boa to keep your neck warm on those cold winter mornings...throw in a bunch of red roses as you walk along the ice flow :slap:...ahhhh...screw it just use the Garand...:D

Well I didn't get a tag for my town ... but Baker Lake is looking into getting me a tag ... find out next Thursday or Friday ... wish me luck ... then I'll have to drive my skidoo up south West of Baker Lake and go shoot a Umingmak(muskox). I'm gonna use my garaand ... probably 150 gr powerpoints bought locally ... my father in-law just got back and got a large male bull ... lucky bugger ... :D
