From what little I know about theese, it seems the .45acp is king. My question is weather using a 9mm would be much of a handycap? I have more practice using my 9mm so thinking about using it for a 2x4 shoot. Also thinking the 147 grain ammo would be most effective. Experienced input would be appreciated!

45 slugs with a bit of a shoulder/semi wadcutter profile remove a lot of material and after the first mag, have a knot above the line picked out to hit with your first shot off the reload. Will help snap things off cleaner;-)

Sounds more like revolver territory, 44 Special will shoot softer (especially in an N Frame) and the heavier lead SWC bullets will do amazing damage, and revolver accuracy is generally better. But of 9 or 45? definitely 45. Also I'd use a "slow is fast" approach, misses won't have any effect. A 200 grain semi wadcutter at 800 fps or so will be both accurate and powerful enough, without being too rambunctious to be quick.
