I have a Remington 870 express 3" chamber, I was wondering if a barrel from a 870 express super magnum (3 1/2" chamber) will fit into my gun?

I'm looking to go from at 28" barrel to a 26" barrel, I find the 26" is more maneuverable in the duck blind.

I'm not 100% certain if that barrel will fit; but if it does fit you will not be able to eject 3.5" shells as the port on your receiver is not long enough. If it fits into the receiver properly there are no real safety concerns and you will be ok to shoot up to 3" shells.
Edit. The barrel will indeed fit but will NOT cycle 3.5" shells.

This is the opposite of my situation. I have a 3" gun. I can't shoot 3 1/2" shells out of my gun as it is. Will a barrel from a 3 1/2" chambered gun work in my 3'' chamber? What i gather is that it wont because the ejection port is longer on a 3 1/2" barrel.

It will work perfectly with 2.75 & 3" shells. It will fire 3.5" if you can manage to get one in the chamber but they won't cycle properly because the port on the receiver is too short.

It's stamped 3 1/2" Magnum when used with a 3 1/2" chambered barrel (or something of the like) on the side of my 870 Supermag. 3" barrels fit on it, shouldn't be any reason 3 1/2" barrels won't fit on the 3" version. Just don't expect to cycle 3 1/2" shells through your action.

Barrel from 3 1/2 on 3" is fine but that is where it ends Even if you got a 3 1/2 into the chamber the 3" receiver is not designed for the same pressures assopciated with 3 1/2 rounds so not a good idea
