Does anyone know of a source for a 3 - 48 tap ?

if it's the tap for the bead sight of a shotgun (i just have to check in my tool box but..) i have few around, let me know... and also have a complete KIT of bead sight from brownell's

You sure that's not 3-56? I can't recall ever seeing a 3-48 tap...

Bead sights are more commonly 3x56 and 4x48.

The easiest place in the world to get these odd ball gun taps and dies is Brownell's Inc. They will mail it to you quickly.

It is for freshing the threads on the pin holding the shell release on the underside of an Ithaca model 37.
And it may well be 3x56.

Some previous "gunsmith" hammered a small finishing nail into it to hold the shell release bar.
