3/8 mount

Has anyone tried clamping a 3/8 mount to a shotgun rib? I'm just curious to try a red dot on a smoothbore shotgun for slugs, and was wondering if this was a possible work-around. 11 mm is just a tad too wide.

Why not put it on the frame, lots of choices there, or you have a separate barrel you want it on?

Yeah, I want to put it on my 14" barrel.

I have a similar issue. I have a pump shotgun with 20" smothbore. Want to put a red dot on it but it has the dovetail. The red dot I have on a .22 fits the rail but no way will that not slide under 12 g recoil. I was thinking dovetail adaptor and red dot on top but then height becomes an issue I would guess.
