I decided to purchase the NEA-15 and now wondering what 3 gun division to set it up for.

I have one major issue and that is my vision which sucks and cant really use iron sights so Im wondering what I should look at for some Optics and which division to start in

I was told that for sanctioned matches the 14.5" barrel won't make major power factor....Which I suppose Im ok with untill I get better and my feet wet...at which point I can get an 18" upper

I am also looking for some additional information on where to find matches and any information for 3 gun sports in ontario.

So, what type of opyics do you suggest i look into

Thanks

You're over thinking for.

For one...there are no 'sanctioned' 3 gun matches in Ontario, much less in any part of north american because there is no sanctioning process. Each match will have rule sets, I've yet to see one that tests PF on a rifle though.

I'm unsure why you can't run irons, unless your handguard covers the gas block. Your rifle optics, among some other things are gonna determine your division. Magnified optics are usually in one, non-magnified in others.

At EESAs matches, we presently have four main divisions
1) magnified optics
2) Electronic sights (non-magnified)
3) Irons
4) Open

Which division would you like to shoot in is the real question. There aren't too many clubs running 3 gun in Ontario. As far as I know, there is EESA, Teah Hoser (Guelph and Colby mainly) and Frontenac....there might be one other club north of Toronto too that I am leaving out.

Oops...misread your post. If your vision sucks, it sounds like you'll do best with a scope. Ranges in Ontario typically are less than 100m for rifle, which means the targets get pretty small to ensure there is enough of a challenge.

Well one thing a 14.5" barrel won't make is.. Across the border.
All the really great mathces are in the states.

As far as "sanctioned" goes.... You must be talking about IPSC three gun.
Which really... Isn't.

What club do you shoot at?
There may be a few members with experience that can meet up with you and give you some help.

As far as optics, the 1-4 or 6 power scopes seem to be popular with the most competitive guys in the US.
Which optic depends on your budget and which reticle you prefer to use.

Its nice to have a 1x low end so you can basically shoot both eyes open at the close stuff and dial in magnification for the small targets at distance.
Illumination of the center of the reticle can help with really quick target acquisition at close range.

You'll have to take a look at a few and decide which you like best.

The rifle you bought will work until you decide if this game is what you want to pursue, and how aggressively you wish to pursue it.

Thanks everyone I really appreciate all the help.

Im a member of Aurora and Oshawa however have not met anyone yet that is involved.

I really dont care if I get to use it in 3 gun, IPSC or whatever to be honest...I gust like going out meeting ppl and having some fun.

Cheers

Hey another 3-gunner....awsome. And the sport grows, this is what we need up here ( Canada). Its getting more public every day, lets face it most of us CGN'rs have the equipment already,so come on out...

Since you guys that have posted here are into it I think there are lots that would like to see other peoples 3-gun setups( IE: pistol, rifle & shotty). I'd like to see a bit of a revival of this thread....Post em up boys.
