I am preparing a presentation on 3 Gun to my club executive and am looking for a little info.

1. What clubs in Alberta currently run 3 Gun?

2. Is your 3 Gun currently affiliated with a specific 3 Gun parent organization?

3. On average, how many people attend your 3 Gun matches?

4. How many 3 Gun matches does your club host per season/ year?

5. What is the average match fee?

Thank you for any and all info. I am particularly interested in Club name and average match attendance.

WRAS -Wild Rose Action Shooters, based out of SGGC generally. We are affiliated with IPSC, IDPA, and USPSA, but run matches with our rules developed from a combination of IMG, and USPSA. Scoring is IPSC style. We are running about 14 matches this year, including some organized skills and drills events. Average match attendance is about 35 competitors. Match fee is $30 plus the range fee if you are not a member.

Our next match is our Annual 2 day event on August 22-23, which will be about 10 stages, includes a bbq swap meet and our AGM. You should swing on by :)

Where are you located, bluesclues? We have one in Peace River on Saturday.

1/2 PR, Grande Prairie and Fort St. John BC run 3 gun matches and are loosely affiliated in our own "outlaw" league Mighty Peace 3Gun.

3 30-40 for single day events, 60 at the last PR two day team match.

4 2-3.

5 $40 for single day in PR, $150 for the team match, per team.

Thank you for the replies so far. I am located between Cold Lake and Bonnyville. I am a member at Bonnyville Shooting Sports Association and Cold Lake Fish and Game club and am in regular contact with the executive of each. Both clubs are currently looking at the viability of 3 Gun, for which I have offered to gather the requisite information.

1. Medicine Hat Rifle and Revolver Club.
2. No, we run our own matches with simplified club rules, scoring, and have a rimfire division.
3. 30 to 35 competitors.
4. 2 matches which generally have 5 stages.
5. Match fee $30.00.

1. What clubs in Alberta currently run 3 Gun?

FORT ST JOHN B.C.close to the border and roughly half our shooters come from alberta

2. Is your 3 Gun currently affiliated with a specific 3 Gun parent organization?

WE ARE AFFILIATED WITH IDPA/IPSC BUT RUN OUR MATCHES UNDER "MIGHTY PEACE 3GUN" RULE SET WHICH IS MOSTLY IDPA RULES AND SCORING

3. On average, how many people attend your 3 Gun matches?

WE AVERAGED 35 SHOOTERS PER MATCH, HIGH OF 41 AND LOW OF 29....

4. How many 3 Gun matches does your club host per season/ year?

WE HELD 4 MATCHES THIS YEAR, BUT HAVE 3 GUN PRACTICE NIGHT 2X A MONTHS(TACTICAL PISTOL THE OTHER 2X A MONTH AS WELL)

5. What is the average match fee?

$40 A MATCH INCLUDES LUNCH AND A TICKET FOR RANDOM DRAW MATCH PRIZES, WE HAD A MINIMUM OF 2 GUNS ON THE TABLE FOR EVERY MATCH

i would like to add that we made a profit of approx $1000 over the 4 matchs, that was our choice... we purchased 7 firearms for the prize table, had two donated (thanks barton's tactical counter and jeff j.), we also gave away an additional 6 firearms as a side door prize thingie, all with the intent to break even and pay for the cardboard for the year, we did that. could we have made more money by scaling back the prize table and door prize budget.... yes. we budgeted about $1400-$1600 for the prize guns per match and the door prize thigie was budgeted at $1250 average per match, cut that in half and you could see a decent profit, especially if your in a bigger center and can solicit donations.... of course any profit rolls back into buying props.

figure on $10 a head to feed people if lunch is provided, always bring in more water then you figure you need......

keep the rules simple, keep simple scoring... IDPA style is perfect for that.... and keep the divisions simple.... dont handicap the highspeed guys because newbies want to shoot thier lowspeed gear in that division.

and lastly, here is a copy of our divisions with the short list of rules at the end

and please join our "mighty peace 3gun" facebook page as we have lots of video of our stages of fire posted there.

CHAS 3GUN (Genesee Range, 45 min from Edmonton) has about 8 matches per year, and approximately 6 Skills & Drills Days. We average 25 shooters per match, depending on the day. $40 annual fee, $20 Match Fee - Custom Scoring - Time plus penalty. Check us out, at - www.chas3gun.com

Lethbridge is now running 1 per month May-August and clinics on firearm skill development. 12-20 shooters to the mini matches May-July. 70-120 shooters to the main match in August. August 22 is this years playground day with goodies from Glock, SWAT, 5.11, FENIX, BlackTalon, the QM, Great Canadian Outfitters (Wholesale Sports) etc.. $20 for the mini matches, $40 for the main - Time plus penalties for scoring. No divisions in mini match, youth and adult are the only divisions for the main. If you want to run it in .22 and .410 go ahead - you won't knock down steel but that's your call :) www.3gun.weebly.com

Thank you all for your replies. I am very happy to see and read about the great 3 Gun and clubs in the province (and BC).
The info is very much appreciated and will be passed along as part of my plan to bring 3 Gun to the Lakeland.

Our two day, two man team match is the first weekend of October. There will be shooters in attendance from at least 4 different clubs who organize and run 3 gun matches.

Come shoot it and pick everyone's brains while you're at it.

The Peace River crew put on a good match all on there own, this match would be worth the drive I'm sure!
