For the last 2 years it seems like the lion-share of 3-gun matches in SW Ontario have been hosted by either Team Hoser or EESA and both groups have encouraged other clubs to step up and follow their lead! Well I am happy to announce that a group of highly dedicated (but of questionable talent ;) ) shooters from Galt have heeded the call!

Saturday October 12, 2013 is the date, and yes, that is the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend.
What can you expect? Well first off, we are limiting the event to 15 shooters (3 squads of 5 shooters each) and will have 4-5 stages. We are starting small because we want things to run on schedule and we want to do it right...we will learn a lot and have some fun and then put on an even bigger and better match next time.
Stage designs will have input from the fevered mind of Jarlath (whose ODPL matches many of you have shot in the past) as well as a creative cowboy/multigun shooter named Doc who has shot just about every kind of gun match you can imagine, plus a few twists from myself and others.

Select Shooting Supplies will be donating some prizes and we are working on a few other angles as well.

The 3 squad times are:
9am FULL
11:30am FULL
2pm FULL

Match fee is $45 prepaid via EMT or cheque. Please email me at Galt3gun@rogers.com to let me know your squad time request and division - I will email you back the payment particulars. Round count will be posted the week before the match.
We will be shamelessly ripping off the Team Hoser rule set and will be using IMA scoring. The match will be run very similar to the way the TH guys do it, only our RO's are a little more striking in appearance :D . Here is a link to the rules and regulations as well as divisions https://sites.google.com/site/teamhosershooting/team-hoser-3-gun-rules

Thanks guys and gals. It's been a bit of a long road to get this going but we hope this event is just the start of bigger and better things to come!

Moose opens the week before, so at that time I will be in the bush with my 3 guns, the old 303, the pump 12 for some grouse, and the 10/22 for what ever else presents its self! Good luck with the match, maybe next time. Ever consider a polar match!

Hey shooters, just an update for you. Stages have been finalized and minimum round counts are as follows: rifle 24, pistol 18, bird shot (#7.5-#4 only) 17, slugs 2. As these numbers are the minimum, I would suggest you bring 75 rounds of rifle and the same amount of pistol as well as 50 birdshot. You will only need 2 slugs. ABSOLUTELY NO STEEL CORE AMMO

Prizes donated so far include a pair of polymer back-up sights, an AR flash hider, and an AR muzzle brake courtesy of North Eastern Arms as well as a cleaning prize package and a mag wrap prize package courtesy of Select Shooting Supplies. These prizes will be distributed over each of the 3 squads and drawn at random at the stage briefing so you've got a 1 in 5 chance of winning.

Scoring will be following International Multigun Association (IMA) rules as outlined below with a par time of 180 seconds per stage.

If you would like an invite e-mailed out to you as per your ATT requirements, please email your request to galt3gun@rogers.com

*******Please show up 15 minutes before your squad time for stage briefing! Only those present for the briefing will be included in the draw for prizes so be there!*******

IMA Scoring Method
10.1 International Multi Gun Assoc. Scoring Method: Stage score is based on straight time plus penalties.

10.1.1 Unless otherwise stipulated in the stage briefing, IDPA cardboard “shoot” targets must be neutralized by receiving either one (1) 0-zone hit or two (2) hits anywhere in the scoring area. Examples of a neutralized target include:

10.1.1.1 One (1) hit in the upper 0 zone.
10.1.1.2 0ne (1) hit in the lower 0 zone
10.1.1.3 Two (2) hits anywhere in the scoring area in any combination of the -1 and/or -3 zone.

10.1.2 IDPA cardboard “shoot” targets that are not neutralized will incur time penalties as follows:
10.1.2.1 One (1) hit in the -1 zone or -3 zone only = 5 second penalty (Failure to Neutralize)
10.1.2.2 No hits on target, but target was engaged = 10 second penalty (Un-hit target)
10.1.2.3 No hits on target and target was not engaged = 15 second penalty (Target not engaged)
10.1.3 Only holes made by bullets/slugs/pellets will count for score/penalty. Evidence that the bullet made the hole must be present on the target (i.e. crown or grease ring/mark). Holes made by shrapnel, fragments, wads or flying debris will not count for score/penalty.

10.1.4 Knock down targets (e.g. Pepper Poppers) must fall to score. Swinging/flashing targets must react in the manner prescribed in the stage briefing. An Event Official may call hits.

10.1.5 Knock down/swinging/flashing targets that do not fall/react will incur penalties as follows:
10.1.5.1 Target did not fall/react, but target was engaged = 10 second penalty (Un-hit Target).
10.1.5.2 Target did not fall/react, and target was not engaged = 15 second penalty (Target Not Engaged)

10.1.6 Frangible targets that do not break will incur time penalties as follows:
10.1.6.1 Target did not break, but target was engaged = 10 second penalty (Un-hit Target).
10.1.6.2 Target did not break and target was not engaged = 15 second penalty (Target Not Engaged).
10.1.7 Scoring hits on designated “No Shoot” targets will incur a 10 second penalty per hit, up to a maximum of 2 hits per no-shoot. Steel “No Shoot” targets must fall to score. Frangible “No Shoot” targets must break to score.

10.1.8 Failure to follow the procedure in the stage briefing will result in a 20 second penalty. If a competitive advantage is deemed to have been gained, procedural penalties may be applied on a “per shot” basis.

10.1.9 Stage Not Fired (SNF) penalty is 500 seconds per stage not fired.

10.1.10 The Match Director may specify a time limit for completing any stage by stating it clearly in the stage briefing. If a participant exceeds the time limit, they will be stopped by an Event Official and the stage will be scored as shot with all applicable penalties.

I had a chance to help work through some of the stages this past weekend, and all I can say is big ups to runningfool for putting this together, and thanks to everyone who's registered! Bringing 3Gun to Galt is a big deal, and we're all really excited about it.

One Shot Tactical is sending us a couple of Vickers slings to give away, Rabe Pellet Pins is donating a brass sorter, and I just got word from the CSSA that they will be sending me some AR chamber flags to give to you guys! So half of you guys will go home with swag worth as much or more than your match fee! How cool is that?

Thanks again to:
North Eastern Arms
Select Shooting Supplies
CSSA
One Shot Tactical
Rabe Pellet Pins

Just had a cancellation for the 11:30am squad so PM me or email me at galt3gun@rogers.com if you want in! You will be done shooting by 1:30pm so plenty of time to get home and suffer through Thanksgiving dinner with the in-laws. Long term forecast for Saturday is sunny with only 10% pop.

OK guys and gals, just a reminder to please show up on time and make sure you are present for the stage briefing 15 minutes before your squad time if you want to get in on the prize draws. Thanks to One Shot Tactical, Select Shooting Supplies, North Eastern Arms, The CSSA, and Rabe Pellet Pins we have over $450 in merchandise we are giving away so I don't want to hear any whining if you show up 5 minutes late and miss the draws!

We will run rain or shine but looking at the forecast, it looks like the weather will be fantastic. There is still an opening available for the 11:30am squad so if you think you have 2 hours to come out and have some fun and win some prizes, let me know asap!

See you all tomorrow!

I shot this match today and was impressed with the design and the guys running the match.

Job well done boys!

And to the guys in the first squad, thanks I had a great time shooting with you.
