Hi

My next purchase is going to be a rifle I can use for Tactical Optics division in 3 gun competitions (I believe the division is correct)

I admit that I do not know all that much yet and just started reading up on everything 3 gun

I do have a few basic questions however.

First off, why is the AR-15 platform preferred over the XCR or ACR platform?
Do you think the advantages of the AR’s outweigh the non restricted use of the XCR/ACR’s

I do know I would like to use the 10 round LMR mags as I have them for my kel-tec SU-16
Do the LMR mags fit the below rifles other than the NEA and Arms East

I Like the rifles listed below but wondering which barrel length would be the best all round for Ontario tournaments

I guess lastly, as I have a SU-16 with a pistol grip and the LMR mags and a 3-9 scope can I start with this?

Thanks a mill

Oops, how can you fix the typo in the headline

Your SU-16 is fine for getting started out in 3 gun. While a lower power scope or a red dot would be better suited to 3 gun You could leave the 3-9 on as long as you have some understanding of height over bore. Most people chose Ar's over some of the non restricted choices because your on a range so you can use a restricted. Personally I use a CZ 858 because it's what I have and I like the platform. If I were running an AR/ACR/Xcr I would run a 1-4 vortex viper, 1-4 millet Dms-1 or a Vortex/trijicon red dot.

Here is my setup..16" midlength.

Well...theres only so much three gun in Ontario. Id shoot a few matches first and then decided, people will probably be more than happy to let you look through theirs. Reticule choices tend to be quite personal....and it will depend on your budget.

The ones listed above are decent entry model scopes. Nothing high end, but good enough for Ontario. At longer ranges, you might notice blurry edges, but not a huge deal for less than 100m.

AR's are proven, available and enjoy easy availability of parts. The other's... 'Not so much.
You do see the SCAR, but... usually used by a shooter sponsored by FNH.

Nope, unless matches start being held in farmers fields or gravel pits.

I switched from the xcr because the weight difference. I loved the idea of a non restricted xcr but found I'd really only be taking it to the range or 3 gun match so I made the swap.
