3 Gun shoot C&DTSA Calgary

Sorry guys, I just saw this thread.

-Rifle ammo, anything goes except something that would start a fire. (All rounds are going through paper and hitting dirt)
-Pistol ammo is lead or plated because we are shooting steel (Club rules). Shotgun is #8 or #7.5 lead only cause again we are tagging steel.

-Playing with the idea of a rimfire match just to have all steel targets and high round count but, by a vote doesnt seem like it would happen this year.

-6 shot round count only applied to limited class. (Limited intended as an equalizer). Unlimited was intended to "Gas em' up and let r' rip" but we couldnt allow a 10 count on the semi auto rifles. Trying to allow it at Milo. LAR are fine to use, just limited to 5 rounds.

-5 shot on shotguns was the same as rifle..... only applied to limited class. Unlimited you could gas up a KSG and have fun if you wanted.

-The match is open to beginners and non-members. For this reason we can not verify peoples competency levels. So the match has to be designed around this principle.

-Scores are up on the website, same with future dates

-Any other questions PM me directly and I can get you answers.

Yeah, that really cleared it up. Look I do not know what happened. Service rifle guys got booted and that's the extent of what I know. If you care to enlighten without turning to insults, I would be more than happy to listen.

I wasn't the one coming into a thread about a three gun event at the CDTSA and blasting it in favour of one run somewhere else.....

If you want clarity of the debacle that happened within the APRA read the threads on this forum. Ask the people in your club and on your board of executive....but be careful to take it with a grain of salt....there are three sides to every coin after all.
Do a FOIP of the APRA documents (like they have any) of proof of wrong doing.
When you're done there you can bring it up at an annual board meeting and ask the majority of APRA members why they buried their heads in the sand and allowed their board to dispose of fellow shooters in the humiliating and unjustifiable way they did.

Will be out of town for Julys match but looking forward to getting out in August. The question about the Chinese 5.56mm ammo stems from an issue that occurred at our range. We did an intro to 3 gun night and were using some MGM poppers (AR-500 steel). The targets are not recommended to be shot with rifle at under 100m. We shot them at about 40m and there were no problems except for two Chinese round that punched through the targets. The ammo was checked and it does not contain a steel core. The jacket is much thicker than normal. If you are just punching paper then it is not an issue.

Yep, just paper with rifle for now. Maybe at milo when we can go past 100 will we explore rifle steel. (Count that as a rumor only)

Having multiple major matches that close the whole range down multiple times a month upsets a lot of people that simply want to sight in, or shoot with a friend. We mainly do service rifle, CAS matches and now 3 gun. This would mean we would shut the range down almost every Sunday. So in an attempt to take other people into consideration the decision was made to try to limited major matches to 1 - 2 times a month.

Added note, I think all the service guys should be trying 3 gun :)
You practice shooting the gun slow and accurate, now try a little faster and more unique positions :D
