Three Gun Team Match, October 5th, 2013, PCFGA Range, Peace River, AB

Peace River Three Gun is pleased to host our second Three Gun Match of the year on October 5th. This event will be a two man team event. Registration at 9 am, safety briefing at 9:30 and shooting starts at 10am, sharp.

Shooters require:
- Eye and ear protection.
- Semi-automatic pistol of 9x19mm or larger, at least three magazines and holster. The holster must be able to retain the pistol during moderate physical activity. No cross-draw, shoulder, small-of-back, or race holsters are permitted. No red dot sights on your pistol.
- Semi-automatic centerfire rifle, of at least .223/7.62x39 or greater power, preferably with detachable magazines and enough magazines to hold at least 30-40 rounds of ammunition.
- Pump or semi-auto shotgun, 12 or 20 gauge.
- Mag pouches, vests, chest rigs, or shoulder bags, etc, to carry spare magazines and shotshells. Be prepared to carry a minimum of 30 pistol, 25 shotshells, and/or 30-40 rounds of rifle ammo, depending on which gun(s) are in use.

Time permitting, there will be a head-to-head steel match after the 3 gun is completed.

Bring at least 100 rounds of pistol ammo, 100 birdshot shells, and 100 rifle rounds. That should be enough to cover the 3 gun and the steel match.

*Round count update*

It's looking to be around 55 rifle, 50 pistol, and 35 birdshot.

Please keep in mind those are minimum round counts and that if team mates are sharing a rifle on the long range stage you will be allowed up to 30 rounds each, so adjust your ammo supply for that rifle accordingly! That also does not count for shotgun or pistol ammo for the post-match steel head-to-head shoot.

Match fee is $80 and will include BBQ lunch. Once we've determined the fee, we will require pre-registration for this event.

Loaner guns and gear can be arranged with enough prior notice. Match will go rain, snow or shine so be prepared.

If you cannot find a team mate and want to participate, let us know. We will try to provide a matchmaking service.

*Long Range Stage*

- targets aprx 16" x 18" and about 30 pounds.
- out to 300m.
- .223 will knock them down, though accurate shot placement or multiple shots may be required. 7.62x39 does the job nicely, .308 will do better.
- team mates may use the same rifle, for this stage only.
- team mate may act as spotter for the shooter.
- stage will be fired from prone, a rest may be used. If using a bipod, it may not be used for other rifle stages.
- there will be a maximum 20 rounds per shooter on this stage.
- 18 targets total, each team member has 9 to engage.
- PLATES MUST BE KNOCKED DOWN TO SCORE.

I will go into work tomorrow and scratch that date off the calendar! gone shooting i will write on that date. now to practice and get some gear.......

I will see what I can wrangle up for guns. My son and I would like to pre register and I will book that day off work.

So as a team event will i need to find two of each gun or can we use one shotgun for the both of us?

If you have two of each it would be much easier. Some stages will require both shooters to have the same guns ready at the same time, or immediately following. Borrowing one shotgun from a squad mated shouldn't be a problem. Having two pistols is necessary. Trading them back and forth is a PITA and can slow things down a fair bit.

Will your boy have any problems with a 12 ga. pump?

PM me your email and I'll put you on the mailing list for updates to the match and any local training/practice we do.

We have access to a 20ga pump the same as the 12. He has shot the 12 at the range and said he could do it but had that look on his face. Not sure how 25-30 shots would be for him.

The rifle could be hard this time as the owner of the VZ was gonna try to join us this time.

HMmm WRAS has a match scheduled for the same date but I'll look into getting it moved and see if we can send a few teams up your way.

The 20 ga. should work just fine. Does your buddy have a team mate with a rifle? It should be easier to get in practice time with someone you know.

That would be most excellent. Think you can get by without your Open pistols?;)

For all you guys without team mates: please try and find your own if at all possible. That way you can make sure you have all the stuff you need.

We will help you find partners if necessary, but can't guarantee the outcome. If you need help finding a partner, please post that in this thread or send me a pm/email.

And keep in mind, we will be shooting one stage to at least 300m, possibly farther.
