Watched Keanu “mr wick” on Youtube doing 3 guns shootings and I am inspired.

Is there any 3 guns shooting training in Ontario?

Would be interested to join!

Check out the "Modern Rifle Challenge" thread. I've been to one of their shoots this past summer and had a great time. I don't have much experience as a 3 gun shooter, but I've been a cowboy action shooter for 25 years or so. There are 3 main aspects to any multi gun shoot. First, can you shoot well?. You can practice that at any range. Second, can you shoot quickly? Again, you can learn that at any range, keeping in mind that first you get good then you get fast. It doesn't matter how quickly you empty your firearm, if you don't hit your target. Third, and this is the quickest way to get fast, (3 gun is a timed event) is reduce the space between the guns. Transitions. Never put one gun down, and THEN pick up the next. 2 guns, 2 hands. No pauses. You can learn that from dry fire practice in your basement. I'm sure there will be videos on you tube to check, but the best is just go to some shoots, have fun, ask questions, and pay attention. My 2 cents

Good idea! I bought Mantis training systems and will start from there.

In regard to training I would just emphasize the use of dry fire and snap caps for loading and practicing. One thing that most people seem to overlook is how to manage shotgun reloading and how to store shells on the shooter during the course of fire. This is still a weakness with me personally but I am practicing my dual loading. Practice the dry fire and reloading your magazines from whatever rig you are going to use. Ipsc and idpa have their own rules regarding belts and how your pistol holster had to be configured.

Have to agree with this, especially the shotgun reloading aspect. From my experience and what I have seen you can make way more time off the gun than on it. Learning to quad load (easy to practice with some dummy rounds at home) was huge for me. Having reliable equipment is key too (I've lost count of the number of times I have seen an awesome run get wiped by a malfunction of some kind).

I have actually slowed down a little in my shooting and my accuracy has improved (still room for improvement) but I now firmly believe that accuracy is the goal and as that falls in to place speed will come (think someone earlier in the thread mentioned similar).

Are there any ranges in Ontario that regularly allow 3 gun matches, given the requirement for a template that covers 180 degrees?

We just hosted ~100 shooters at the Niagara Regional 3 Gun Championship last weekend at NRSGC. Since 2020 we’ve run a club level multigun match every month except January and 4-5 open matches each year.

Galt holds regular monthly members matches, plus they recently held their 10th Anniversary match.

Canadian Multigun Series has been running for 2 seasons now at Guelph…in fact they have a match next weekend.

And there’s lots of smaller clubs starting to hold club level multigun matches.

3 Gun is still alive in Ontario and making a comeback.

We Run the Canadian Multi gun Championship Series at Guelph Rod & Gun Club. This is our 3rd Year, and we are coming up to our 4th match out of the 5 Match Series.
In the Spring we Run a Course "Intro to 3 Gun" which is a one day course to help new comers to the sport. We hope to run 2 courses next year.
email me at: cms.matches@icloud.com and ask to be added to the email list and you will receive updates on matches and courses.

Match 4 is next week on 19/20 Aug @ Guelph Rod & Gun Club
