3 inch barrel 2 3/4 reciever?

Can you do this even if you only use 2 3/4 inch shells?

yes you can install the barrel and use 3 inch shells in it. the only difference between a 3 inch and a 2 3/4 inch receiver is the ejector - its positioned a little farther back on the 3 inch so you might have ejection issues. Remiongton only sells the 3 inch ejectors now so you can replace the ejector (involves riveting so best left to a gunsmith) to make ejection smoother and more reliable.

the converse is not true though NEVER put a 3 inch shell in a 2 3/4" barrel even if it's mounted on a "3 inch" receiver
