Can I use 3 inch magnum shells in my shotgun??. it's stamped 3 inch on the barrel...I'm newer to shooting and just picked up my first shot gun.......

yes you can shoot 3" shells through your shotgun and anything smaller than 3" too

What kind of shotgun is it? Is it an older gun that had a barrel changed?

NO, it's actually brand new...It's a (gulp..lol) Hatsan Escort......

So..I shot my Hatsan for the first time, nice shotgun, solid, "accurate" and light. The 3'' mag slugs and shot kicked my ass. The short 18.5'' barrel was a nice length, I was still able to hit clays at 10 yards or so and I hit them all!! So far so good.
