3-point sling

Hello all,

I'm looking for a 3-point sling for my Dominion Grizzly Mag. I have the Magpul stock and forend on it.

Are they all pretty much the same? There is a Blakhawk and a Magpul MS3 in the EE right now. Is one better than the other?

So far I'm leaning towards the Magpul simply because I am happy with their other products.

Bear in mind I have no idea what I am looking for here. Total newbie to tactical slings. I've never owned one. I've used 1-point, 2-point, and 3-point slings, and all I have determined is that I like the 3-point the best so far.

To my knowledge, the magpul ms3 is a 2 point convertible to 1 point sling, not a 3 point sling. 3 point slings are quite useless IMO.

OK, educate me as to why a 3-point sling is useless.

I like the versatility it has. It can be carried across the chest, used for stability, 1-arm carry, slung across the shoulder or back, and a whole host of other configurations with little adjustment.

When properly employed a three point sling has webbing along the length of the firearm from sling point to sling point. On a semi-auto gun such as a AR-15/M16 this is fine. On a pump gun this peace webbing running down the length of the gun is a disadvantage. It gets in the way of pumping the forend. All other straps get in the way of pumping as well. Basically you get all in a tangle.

If you look most of the people who running 3 points on pump guns they usually leave it hanging under the gun so it doesn't get in the way.

So whats the point? You may as well run a two point!

It can be carried across the chest, used for stability, 1-arm carry, slung across the shoulder or back, and a whole host of other configurations with little adjustment.

You can do all of this with a TWO point adjustable sling such as a Vicker's Combat Applications Sling by Blue Force Gear.

I go with either a two point adjustable (VCAS Sling) or One-point to two-point transitional (MS3).

Since two point adjustable slings came on the market the 3 point is basically obsolete.

There is no need for the extra strap that gets in the way of immediate action drills and gets hung up on gear.
