I bought a 3 point voodoo tatical sling the other day. i probaly spent an hour trying to figure out how to install it and i still dont think i got ti right. HELP please

also would you be able to tell me the correct way for wearing this sling so you have the rifle accross your chest when not in use, and it is still easy to "pull a bead" quickly.

thanks

Installation instructions:

1. Open Garbage can

2. Insert 3 point sling

3. Buy a Vickers sling

4. Consider the price you paid for the 3 point pennance for not researching what a proper sling should look and function like
:)

Study this pictue of Dudley2112 and me carefully. You'll get it.

(Just use Duct tape :) )

More seriously, here's how it should look from the side (note the slack in the slings):

and here's from the back:

Basically, it's just two slings acting as one (literally what I used for my last minute welfare 3-point sling). The main part of the sling attaches both ends of the gun, the second part goes around you. When you drop the sling it'll just fall the way you can see it has for me in the bottom picture.

If you've got the right amount of slack in each part of the sling, it'll be easy to bring up and on target perfectly everytime.

Yeah, but where's the duct tape in this picture? :D
Hehehe, you'll have to look at Dudley's rifle for that. He had an actual 3-point that broke on him. Hence the duct tape holding everything back together on his rig. Sure it's not pretty, and it's not permanent, but it worked really well last Saturday, and I definetly put my Colt through its paces.

truer words could not be spoken;)

Hey guys...can you use these slings in the same manner as the good ol' WW2 variants?

I don't need to carry the gun for instant deployment against Talibangers or door to door salesmen...but it would be nice to have a sling that allows you to lock up in the prone or sitting position like a regular sling and then throw it over your back without having to take it off or fight with it. If these things can do that I would like to try one that preferabley doesn't involve duct tape or velcro...

The design of most 3 point slings makes it difficult to cinch up for precision shooting,as their design is tailored for ease of rifle movement. You could tighten it up but it would affect the operation of the rifle (access to charging handle, mag changes etc).
If you intend to use it as a shooting aid a two point sling would be your best bet.

The advice Reaper gave is the way to go, or put it on the wall to remind you that buying cheap, costs you more in the long run. ;)

3 point slings are obsolete. There is no purpose for them. The extra strap gets caught on gear and gets in the way of immediate action drills.

It doesn't matter if you are a contractor, CF soldier, service rifle shooter, or airsofter, you should be running a Blue Force Gear sling, more than likely a VCAS.

You probably spent between $1500 to $3000 on your rifle and your going to put a $15 sling on it????

To be fair to the concept, it wasn't the 3-point sling that was the problem, it was the fact that it used plastic strap holders/buckles and not metal ones (like those that came with my Colt, and probably why my homemade jobby didn't break). That said, I agree 100% that buying cheap crap will cost more in the long run.
