using them for deer

150 gr. Swift Scirocco in a m700 Ti

I'm really leaning towards 48.0 grs. Varget or RL15 right now, as I will be aiming for 2800 fps (moderate range deer hunting).

keep the info coming guys :D

I have a very accurate low-recoil load using a 150 Hornady BTSP over 55 1/2 gr Winchester W760. It does 2840 fps 10 feet in front of the muzzle.

Hello from Bob...................

Here's my recipe for a good .30-06 150 gr reload , these were shot in a M1917 Enfield sporter with a fairly long throat:

Rem brass
CCI-BR primers
Rem 150 gr PSP-CL
51.2 grs of IMR 4064
OAL 3.300"
Vel 2900 (est.)

And another .30-06 I have with a short throat won't shoot that load tho , when I reduce the powder charge to 50.0 grs of IMR-4064 , it performs great!
OAL with this rifle is 3.170"

Can't help you with the powders you want to use tho.........How about you post your own results when you find the right one for you?

Regards ,
Bob

You have to work up a load for your rifle. A load that shoots well in one rifle won't necessarily in another. IMR4064. 48.0 to 53.0. 52.5 grains of it at 2915fps is one of the accuracy loads in my old Lyman book.

150 gr. Scirocco / 22" barrel

47.0 grs. benchmark - 2713 fps avg

48.0 grs. h4895 - 2762 fps avg

50.0 grs. Varget - 2705 fps avg

50.0 grs. RL15 - 2693 fps avg

H4895 was the accuracy winner, 1.2" 3 shot group out of my m700 Titanium.

For what its worth I have found that all the 3006s would shoot okay say 3/4" and up most my guns Rem 700 etc had a 1 in 10 twist but I had Hart rifles make me up a Rem 700 in 1in 12 with a stainless 26" man this gun would shoot lots of 4350 under a 168 sierra BT 1/2 gun, with 165nosler partitions just over 3000fps made some one happy when I sold it, wish I still had it. I also sold a pre 64 win model 70 with 1in12 twist shot very good kick my ass again ever time I see one for sale, sold mine to a friend on condition if went to sell it give me first chance to buy back, for $300 and yes he ain't got it anymore.

3006 loads

I picked up a box of 150 gr. ballisitic silvertips from Winchester for hunting this fall (deer), and achieved .50" (100yds) my Steyr Prohunter. WOW...my gun loves them,....my 2 deer didn't. Now I'm trying to duplicate a handload on that specific sample. Nosler ballisitic tips or silver tips are going to be the premium choice, and maybe 56-59 gr. of 4350. Should I use Winchester powder to replicate this phenomenal (and very popular) combination that Winchester has put together. What are some other choices for a rock solid dependable and consistent shot, ie match shooting? Thanks,
I had a friend tell me the 3006 was an obsolete cartridge....until we had a little shootout. :D

Your titanium should shoot better than that, try a heavier bullet. work your way up till you find the one it likes. I'm sure you already know this but keep your shooting sessions short with those light barrels, your groups will spread.

I've alway had great accuracy with IMR 4064 but your velocity might be down a bit.
A friend of mind has a titanium in 7mm-08 an that thing shoots awesome. I wouldn't expect the 30-06 to be any less accurate than the 7mm-08, both great cartridges.

Instead of the Ballistic Tip or Ballistic Silver Tips - same bullets except for the colour - I would try and find some of the 150 grain Accubonds. They should shoot just as well as the BT but will hold together a whole lot better than the BTs if you end up shooting something at very close range.

You can use Winchester W760 as powder to try and duplicate the factory loadings but I would be more inclined to look at IMR 4320 , IMR 4064, IMR 4350 or Varget first as they have less barrel fouling that the ball powders. (If forced to pick only one powder it would be IMR 4350)

My buddy, ever helpful, gave me a box of Hornady 150 BTSP,since I had some 4064 for my 303,I tried them. After getting to 51.5gr and one big messy hole,I had to buy 4# of IMR-4064 and a couple of boxs of 150 BTSPs.When I mentioned the group,he said the old match load was 52.0gr.

Speaking of match loads.... I was wondering how many 06's actually are used at competetions?? There is absolutely no reason that a 3006 cannot be as accurate as a 308 loaded correctly. I personally love a 150 gr bpsp 3006, and it seems to be as accurate as I've ever needed hunting.

When they changed over to 7.62 Nato, there was a time when both were used at the matches. When the 308 got sorted out, they gave up on 30.06.I'm saying this and I'm the guy who at one time had four 30.06s.I have never had a 308,and likely never will.

I havent really shot my Ti alot, basically sighted it in with them 150 gr. Sciroccos, went hunting, came home a week later and worked up a 168 gr. Triple SHock X load (57 4350 - 2800 fps), hunted, didnt shoot anything.

Have it sighted in right now for 300 yards, 110 gr. Vmax @ 3350 fps. 4.5" group @ 300y.

Will tinker more this winter and spring. I want to get my hands on the new 165 gr. Accubond...:D

We saw the 150 gr accubonds first time at the Kamloops gunshow last March.Hopefully the prarie boys bring out the 165gr accubonds with them in the spring.:D RB

180gr Interbonds work real well out of my Savage. I really prefer the heavier bullet in the 06. But really, grab a book go to the range and have a pile of fun.
