30-06 240 grn.

Only loaded and shot 180 hornady interlocks in mine. Have some 200 nosler part loaded but have not had time to try yet. Was thinking 220 hornady interlock roundnose might be good try

I have a few 100 240 Woodleigh's that I would like to try. What kind o accuracy are you getting ? I am waiting for my rifle so am trying to make up some loads before it gets here. I have 125 - 240 grn. bullets to try.

Can’t say for sure as the scope I had on started to go south when started. First few shots were within 1” each other so not sure if I had all the shakes going right way. I have not gone back to give it a work out yet again due to time and the WIND

The Lee book has 250gr Jacketed loads
H1000 55.0-58.0gr 2178-2281fps 59400psi 3.2" COAL
H4831 50.0-52.5gr 2134-2237fps 59250psi 3.2"
H4350 45.0-47.5gr 2060-2156fps 58080psi 3.2"

I just got a box of Horn IL 220 RN's from a GUY to load in my 308 Scout Rifle and i'm gonna play with them in my 06 too ! RJ

I looked up some old data, none of which I have tried, it's straight out of the book:

250gr- 50 gr H4831 start to 53 gr max, velocity 2450, source- Barnes handout ( very old )
250gr- 51/ IMR 4831, = 2,232 fps- source- Handloaders Digest, 12th edition
46/W760 = 2089 fps
43.5/W748 = 2072 fps
50/H4350 = 2131fps
54/H4831 = 2450 fps
Author of the article reported "shtogun pattern groups"- 5=6" groups with most loads.

From the Woodleigh manual, 240 gr:

43/H 4350 = 2055 start to 46/H4350 = 2205
50/H4831SC = 2180 start to 53/H4831SC = 2335
55/H1000 = 2260 to 58/H1000 = 2370
50/R19 = 2220 to 53/R19 = 2350
48/R22 = 2130 to 53/R22 = 2380

They have data for Vhita Vouri powders as well if you want it. The Woodleigh manual says the 240 gr requires a minimum of 1-10" twist.

Does anyone know the brl. twist in the Baikal 30-06 ?

Figure it out for yerself. Take a cleaning rod and a sharpie and a ruler. Stuff the rod down the barrel, put an ink mark - say at 12 o’clock - on the rod at at the muzzle and pull the rod until the mark has made a full revolution. Then measure the distance back to the crown of the barrel. Thimpo.

Got to the range today. Baikal IZH 94 30-06 - 50 yrds. bore sighted
Bottom target first 2 shots
second 2 shots middle
Fed. 180 SP
Top target 240 Woodleigh
using Woodleigh data - will tweek that load a bit
