hey guys, i was fortunate enough to acquire my first r700 today, came with a scope and an upgraded trigger. ill get pics of it later on. its a 30-06 version. id like to get some ammo for it tomorrow but wanted to make sure first if all 30-06 ammo is the same or if there are different types of it and some that will work and some that wont. thanks for looking.

"...if all 30-06 ammo is the same..." Any will shoot safely out of your rifle, but it's not all the same as far as accuracy out of your rifle is concerned. If you're not reloading you'll have to try a box of as many brands and bullet weights as you can to find the ammo your rifle shoots best. The price of it means nothing.
Try 165 grain hunting bullets, first. The .30-06 loves 'em and a 165 will kill any game you care to hunt without excessive felt recoil.

excellent thanks for the info and the reponse. its good to know.

although i should have been a bit clearer in my original post and that was my fault. i know that with various ammunition it may sound the same but be different. im just thinking back to my gun course where they talked about different names past the caliber size and how some were different. 9mm luger is the same as 9mm parabelum, but different than 9mm makarov, i think thats the right spelling. same with some larger rounds they mentioned. i just dont want this thing exploding in my hands :)

ill try what you recommend when i get it out to the range. thanks again for the indo
