I've been thinking about picking up a savage in 30-06 but I've hear some talk about ammo drying up in the future. Just wondering if there is any truth to this or is 30-06 hear to stay?

30-06 is probably the best selling centrefire cartridge on earth. There is no chance the ammo manufacturers are going to stop producing or let the volume of product in the marketplace dwindle to unattainable levels.

What might become scarce is the 308 bullets for reloading 3006 from American manufacturers.

No truth at all. It is one of the most popular hunting cartridges out there, and one of the most popular chamberings for rifles.

I kind of doubt it, with all the Garand owners in Canada, we alone are a driving force for .30-06 supplies. I probably shoot a hundred rounds every range trip from my M1.

That, and us Browning M1919 owners :D (I can barely afford to feed it..)

I have been all over Western Canada , Yukon, NWT parts of Alaska all off the beaten track, you walk into the 'local grocery' store and I gurantee you will find:

30-06
303
300 win mag
7mm mag
.22
12 gauge

I dont have a 30-06 rifle but I do have about 900-1000 of surplus ammo (nice shiny brass stuff) tucked away, I might be selling

If you have a 30-06 and the ammo runs out you will still be one of the last ones shooting as everything else will be long gone before that.
