I've been thinking about picking up a savage in 30-06 but I've hear some talk about ammo drying up in the future. Just wondering if there is any truth to this or is 30-06 hear to stay?
30-06 is probably the best selling centrefire cartridge on earth. There is no chance the ammo manufacturers are going to stop producing or let the volume of product in the marketplace dwindle to unattainable levels.
I kind of doubt it, with all the Garand owners in Canada, we alone are a driving force for .30-06 supplies. I probably shoot a hundred rounds every range trip from my M1.
That, and us Browning M1919 owners (I can barely afford to feed it..)
What was that? Creed? Blech anyways that video makes a good point. The Americans are buying like MAD. .30-06 would be a good choice, even if ammo got scarce that would be a fairly easy caliber to find.
I have been all over Western Canada , Yukon, NWT parts of Alaska all off the beaten track, you walk into the 'local grocery' store and I gurantee you will find:
