We have a 30-06 Remington model 742. semi-auto..

when bullet chambered it shoots fine.
It cycles fine , but does not #### for 2nd round.
Do it manully it works.
Has anyone some input

I'm not familiar with that model but if it where me i would look on YouTube for a video on how to strip and clean the gun and make sure everything was reinstalled in the right order and everything is within spec.
 
Sounds like your trigger is not resetting, if you take the trigger group out of the action there is a long lever on the left side pointing to the rear. There is also a short lever pointing toward the muzzle. The short lever should be on top of the long lever to allow the trigger to reset.
Sorry for the crappy description but I'm not near a trigger group at the moment to take a picture.
 
Is the trigger assembly seated properly? It's been a while since I've had my 742 apart, I'm not sure but I think I recall having to make it seat properly. These are unfortunately problematic. How bad has the bolt chewed up the receiver?
