I'm looking to get into reloading mainly to save money but secondly for interest/cool factor. I typically shoot about 50 rounds when I'm shooting the Springfield. (plinking)

I'm looking at a Lee press kit comes with everything except dies for 200$

I was trying to add up costs to make 100 30-06 rounds. To see how long until I'm saving money.
Am I way off "scale" with this estimate for materials?
$30 for 100 bullets
$15 for 100 brass - first time only
$30 for a pound of powder - how long will this last me?
$15 for 100 primers

I figure about $90 to make my first 100 then about 50$ after that? Depending how long a pound of powder last.
It's about a buck a shot right now with ammo from crappy tire.

I also want to shoot more 12 gauge slugs (cheaper) do I have to buy a separate press to do this. I guess this would involve melting down lead? It's also about a buck a shot for crap tire slugs.

Your prices are ok for the bullets and powder. the primers are about $30 per 1000. You can pick up brass once fired online here in the EE.And depending on the powder load you use. ...a pound of powder should give you between 200 and 250 ammo.

1 lb = 7000 grains

For a standard '06 load, you will use an average of 50 grains of powder.
This means not much more than 140 rounds loaded / pound.
