With the exact same model rifles. Same weight, one in 30-06 and the other in 7mm rem mag, both in 150 grain bullet, what would the difference in the felt recoil be approximatly? big, little, very little, hardly, or not much at all?

if the rifles are the same weight the 7Mag will recoil a slight bit more....the powder charge carries more weight in the recoil formula and the 7Mag will hold more pwder with a 150 than the '06....you may or may not notice the difference...I don't.....I've owned three or four of each....

huge difference. once the powder is ignited and the charge realizes it's housed in a magnum belted case, the recoil energy doubles and the killing power triples

easy choice - 7mm rem MAGNUM!

In equal weight rifles, you will not notice any difference. But there is this stigma that if the name says magnum, it is gonna rupture eardrums and break shoulders.

Tod, if there were not the slight possibility that some half-wit would actually believe that statement it would be very funny...actually, it is funny, but I bet some twit really does believe.
James.

i have a rem.7600 in .30-06. i have a RUM 7 mm ia 700 bdl ss. i find more felt recoil in th .30-06 without a recoil pad than i do with the heavier 700 with a recoil pad , in the 7mm RUM.

It's hard to beleive that some otherwise intelligent members of this forum just can't resist a little magnum bashing when faced with what appears to be an honest question....

To those I'd just like to say....

Remember, it's how you use it. No really. A small gun is nothing to be ashamed of.....;):p

Dogleg's got it right - there IS a slight increase in recoil, but muzzle blast of most 7mm's is something else - way louder than .300WSM as an example. Target shooting my 7mm the noise even gets to me, the shooter! All the same, love the caliber. One of the all-time greats, as is the '06.
