Perhaps the "Gunsmithing" section would serve your purposes better. I fail to see how a burned out semi auto hunting rifle qualifies as a "Precision Rifle". You can find out about great sources for barrel blanks and such on here, but smithing a new barrel for a semi-auto can get pricey. Spelling, grammar and punctuation count as well. Be committed to writing a properly worded question and people will not dismiss you as if you were a child.

Capitalization is the difference between helping your Uncle Jack off a horse & helping your uncle jack off a horse.
Nothing personal, but it is sad to see how communications skills have deteriorated in the younger generations. I've noticed this in university graduates as well.Another obvious shortcoming is in etiquette and table manners. I know someone who earns good money by teaching up and coming young executives and their wives how to set a table and how to eat without using their hands.
A replacement barrel for a Remington 742 will be difficult to find. The Equipment Exchange forum is one possibility.
