As or of topic, well...
I don't like it when someone makes a thread and his question is which grain bullet to use in his 30 30 for bear defense, and it ends up being a thread with so called "bear defense" know it alls hopping in to say that their 45/70 is better or their 18 inch shottie, etc etc.
So far this thread seems OK. If you think this thread has gone off topic, then you need to read more threads.
Bear defense threads get a lot of people going.
If a guy posts a thread, I try to stick with him in what he wants to know, rather than try to teach him what "I" think he should know.
If you started a thread that said
"I own a 30 30, and it's a fine cartridge" I guarantee there'll be more posts telling me a better cartridge, and soon the thread will be about 7mm's and 338's. That's a thread gone off topic. Hmmmm. I'm gonns try it.
Check it out and see what happens, I assume it will get a few posts before this one gets read.
