Perhaps the OP might invest in a reloading manual. There he would see several bullet style numbers, c/w bullet diameter, listed for most, if not all, .30 caliber cartridges. Including a whole series of pages listing suitable bullets for .30-30. The world of print still has a purpose.
Buddy is willing to reload for me. But I need to get the components for a 30 30.
If buddy make a mistakes - you will pay the price.
Since he will reload for you - he should have the knowledge of what it take for components for the load you want.
For plinking - I would go with lead bullet - 150 grains or lighter - coated or not.
Usually plinking load are light load.
