30/30 for moose?

Read a lot about using 30/30 leverlution and other ammo on moose but I have a hard time accepting that it's enough or at least practical. the last thing I want is to injure a moose. Have any of you used it and make a clean kill?

For the love of game, why would anyone use an old relic when you have so much better to choose for big game.

Dont shoot the messenger now!...:D

I have a short story to tell. I was hunting with some friends and one had his 12 year old boy with him.
Father bought son a 30-30 bolt action for cheap.
I thought, what a novel idea for that cal in a bolt action.
He can even reload for pointed bullets for flatter shooting and do well with a classic caliber.

Then I hear..... why would anyone buy such a caliber for someone they loved?, his own son in this case,.... when there are so many better choices out there. I laughed my butt off.

" Does he hate his boy, does he not want his son to be successfull?" I stopped for a minute and thought hes right.... Why would anyone use a 30-30 for open plains deer, never mind moose?....:D

Circumstances dictate the caliber bush hunting with shots under 100 yards I personally know a guy that shot a cow moose at 40 yards and dropped her with a 30/30.
Same gun northern ontario possibility of 200 to 400+yds shots bad choice of firearm.
