Many of these loads were Max or near Max in my rifle... please work up loads should you use any of this data.

Many of these re-worked up loads were also later Range fired in a Win. 94 Angle eject....all bullets used were singly loaded if C.O.L was longer than factory ammo...and lead tips were clipped off the 150 grain SPz. to accomodate C.O.L. and allow one in the chamber and one in the mag. rule for hunting purposes ... once an accurate "clipped "load had been found.

Great referance data fellas!

I thank you, one & all............

PS: I do have one recipe to share too,
110 grain Speer hollow point short jacket
27.2 grains of IMR 4198; 1.5 inch group @100 yards using Williams FP peep.

C.O.L. HAD too be adjusted slightly deeper than book data, as the bullet was engaging the rifling upon chambering. (1956 Winchester M94) Chamber throats vary according to manufacturer spec's.

If your velocity posted is what your chronograph read, either you are way over a safe load, or your chronograph is pooched.

2680fps is well above any safe load for a 150 gr bullet in a .30-30 that I can find, particularly using IMR 3031.

Bloody amazing!!

You beat the velocities shown in most reloading manuals by around 300 fps and around 400 fps faster than IMR lists for 3031. You must have a very special rifle .....................

I would imagine it would "kick" a mite. Next round might show you how a rifle spontaneously disassembles. :slap:

X2 - my '94's being converted to an Ackley version (.30-30) and one of the targets is for a 150 @ 2650 - and the Ackley 40 deg version holds considerably more powder, headspaces off the shoulder minimizing stretch and plain old turbo charges the "thutty-thutty". 2680? Something ain't right - should have separated the case.

Perhaps the bullets were 125 gr, thats the only way I know of getting low to mid 2600's out of a .30/30. .308 pressure in a .30/30 should freeze your action tight, unless you have one of the old M-70's chambered for .30/30.
