i have the chance to buy a couple of guns, one is a winchester 30-30 lever action, with a side scope, excellent condition, its about 50 yrs old. The second one is a 67 confederate marlin 30-30 with a (i think) weaver scope in mint condition. what would be a decent price for each of them. im not sure of much else info at the moment any info would be greatly appreciated.

The Marlin is usually a handier, better shooting rifle because of side ejection. The Winchester might appreciate more in value.

If it was me, i would buy the marlin if I wanter a rifle to hunt/shoot and the Winchester if I wanted a collector or open sight rifle.

YMMV

$600 to $700 for the pair would be the range I'd look in. Ever since the 94 ceased production they've jumped up inprice to what I think is an unreasonable level. The days of the $150 Model 94 at a gunshow are pretty well gone. Sadly for those of use sans Winchester 94.

The confederation Marlin is very valuble to a Marlin collector, or a collector of Canadian centenial guns if it is mint and unaltered.I have only ever seen one, and it was being used as a truck gun!

thanks all, i think i will get the serials and do some more investigating on them....thanks for the info...

Nice shape .30-30 Win 94's in pre 64 format are going in the $550 neighborhood around these parts...

Gawd remember when you could get a nice '94 at a gunshow for $150?
