My 30-30 shoots the 160 gr Flex-Tip about 4" flatter over 200 meters than the 170 FN offerings from Hornady or Norma.
Not a huge amount, but enough to make a difference if one is stretching the 30-30 at all.
I have shot the 150 Spire points in my 30-30 in the past, loading them singly [not in tube magazine]
They shot similarly to the FTX, but my concern is most 150 gr pointed bullets are designed for more velocity than the 30-30 churns up in the carbine length barrel, so expansion might be an issue if ranges are longer, and that is why a pointy bullet is desirable, to reach out with a flatter trajectory and arrive with more energy.
If I was setting out to hunt with a pointed bullet in a 30-30, I would be tempted to use the Nosler 125 gr Ballistic Tip Hunting bullet.
You could drive it to 2500+ fps, and it should expand reliably out to as far as you want to shoot your 30-30.
