30-30; what bullet weight for what circumstance?

The 30-30 built it's reputation around 165-170 grain bullets.
I don't think that is much different today.

Out to 175-200 yards, a decent 170 grain bullet is great for any game you are hunting
here in North America.

If you want to extend the range another 50 yards, then the 160 FTX from Hornady is a good choice.

I don't really consider the 30-30 a 300 yard rifle, although it is possible under ideal circumstances.
