A few years ago I backed some 220 RN Hornady's with 38 gr of IMR 4064 for my early production (1904) '95 Winchester...used data from an older Lyman manual which lists 40 gr as the max. I now own a collection of several other, much more current manuals. The Hornady data lists 34.4 gr of 4064 as the max. with their 220 RN. I understand that the '95 action is stronger than the Krag, and I had no trouble with my 38 gr loads, BUT... the rifle is 100+ years old, and now I'm starting to wonder if I should back off a bit. What do you think?
