Here are some (not cherry picked) groups from the 30 BR I started shooting a couple of weeks ago. Counting only the eleven last FIVE SHOT groups @ 100Meters - the average is 0.29" C to C---best group 0.08". Gun pic to follow

It is a darling of a cartridge and the fav. of Cast Bullet benchresters as well as shooting for score in j-word benchrest.

This cartridge has proven itself so many times over,I am surprised that it has not become "commercial" yet.
If in your load development, you get a chance to try some BIB bullets, they can amaze you with longer range accuracy (200 & 300m) 118g 7 or 10 degree ogive
Nice rig

The groups I counted (just the 5 shot groups) were all 110 Bergers...I don't have a chrony but with close to 34 gr of 4198 they should be going about 3000 fps out of the 24" barrel.
You will notice a couple of groups on the bottom two targets (left side) where I shot 3 shot groups with 125 Gr Bergers. Since not much load data on the 30BR, I was being consevative as I got to heavier bullets.

The 30 BR is just amazingly accurate. My pet load for the 110 Bergers was 33.6 grains of H4198 at 2980 fps. Conservative but accurate. My barrel is a 1:17.5 twist Shilen finished at 23 inches on a Remington 78 action. I have pushed the 125 Speers out to 700 yards witrh surprising accuracy. Between 100 to 400 yards its truly remarkable. Where did you find a supply of 110 bergers??

My best groups at 200 meters have been with 32.0/H4198 and the 125 Bergers out to the lands. Finding a considerable amount of variation between primer brands (CCI BR (best yet) Federal with Remington bringing up the rear.

My rig is a Sako L691 with Krieger 1/17 twist on a McMillan A-5 stock. Not a BR setup but it will do me. Intend to shoot it at the Mission spring match at 300 yards.

I would be curious as to other members seating depth (OAL) experience with both Bergers. Will just have to find some BIBS.

Got the 110's at WSS. Tried 125's today at .03 off the lands with 32.0/32.5/33.0 gr of 4198. Groups were .49 / .39 / .3 respectively @ 100M. No pressure signs, so tomorrow I will jamb 'em .010 with the same powder weights. I use CCI BR-4 primers.

Hello Jec I to have a 30br that I resently built on a savage LRPV model 12 action amazely accurate cartridge when I tryed a custom 125 grainer. My load was working very nice with 30.5 grains of h4198 jammed into lands leaving prefect square marks. It's a shilen 1 in 15 twist with a zero freebore. Would love to get some Bib's to try in the 118's. Big B.

This cartrige has me interessted what kind of groups are you getting at 400yds and 700yds?

Something I've always wondered but never asked about the 30BR.. I know it is used in LR benchrest circles, but do folks use the caliber in F-Class at all?

Just a heads up to the quoted edit to give a bit more detail on the rifle. Would also like to hear at what max loads other 30BR's are showing pressure signs? So far, all my primers have retained nice round shoulders with powder stacked 1/2 way up the neck.

Lojak & coyote....The 30BR is used mostly for scored benchrest usually at 100, 200, and 300 yards (meters). With the bullets available predominately flat based ones, I doubt if there was any accuracy left at 6, or 700 yards. While 3000 fps velocities are common the case case capacity would be about 35 gtrains (H4198) and that would be a compressed load. I don't rule out this being a varminter cartridge but the F Class would be out of it's reach. But with a barrel life of some 6000 rounds, it interested me and I'll continue to work with it.

I couldn't agree more
The 30 BR shines out to 300. On calm days 400 is good too. But it goes subsonic pretty quick. With a spotter, I was able to make hits at 600 and 700, but lets face it......there are waayyy better options for long range shooting than a flat based 115 grain bullet. My .223 is ballistically superior. I never had the intention to shoot long range with the 30 br I just wanted to test the waters and my 30brs LR capabilities. The only target that I could dig up is the following. It was shot at 700 yards..

I am thrilled that almost all vertical was tuned out of the load. Horizontal spread is about 6 inches. Not great but not bad either. I think f class would be pointless for this cartridge.
