I've got a new F-TR rifle being built by Robertson Composites and I keep going back and forth on what bullets to have the chamber cut for. My original intent was to shoot 185 BTs or VLDs, but after seeing how well Alex's new TR rig shot the 155s it got me thinking about maybe going lighter. The barrel is a 30" Heavy Palma True Flite in a 12 twist.

The problem I have now is seeing the BCs on the new Hybrid 168s and 185s. 0.266 G7 for a 168, and 0.291 for the 185! Could there finally be a bullet that will get all the Ottawa .223 guys to stop talking about the 90gr VLDs?

Has anybody had tried the 155, 168, or 185 hybrids yet? After all the backtracking on the original claimed BC for the .338 300gr Hybrids I'm a little wary about the claimed BCs.

Thanks!

Scott

The 30cal Hybrids are slow in coming but some are available. The difference in ogive is slight and you can interchange all of these bullets by adjusting your seating die.

Just set up the "shortest" bullet and the longer ones can be seated a big deeper without issue.

There will never be a way to "think" what a barrel will like. Start burning powder and let the barrel tell you what you will feed it.

It may not be Bergers at all....

I started preliminary ladder testing the 168 Hybrids. Bullets were shot out of my 308 Barnard with a 30" Krieger 1:12 twist barrel with an Obermeyer chamber. Bullets are jumping 25 Thow. 5 shot groups were from 1/4 to 3/4 MOA depending on powder charge. Load testing was done at 200 Yds. I hope to fine tune my load then do more testing at 600m shortly and see how they do in the wind. I am pleased with the preliminary results. I am unsure of the velocity I am getting.
