Hey guys - looking for military ammo for my 1919 A4. Its in 30-06 but regular stuff seems to cycle improperly... Any guess where I can acquire this stuff?

Surplus ammo is almost non-existent

Yea StoneHorse - the M1 Garand stuff works but expensive per round. I was able to locate some surplus a while back for about .70 cents a round.
Like yomomma says, it's almost non-existent. (key word "almost" hence my post )

Did you "Northerners" get any of the Greek HXP milsurp .30-06? Lots of it cam into the US a few years ago, and you can still find it for USD .50-.60 a round.

I'm pretty sure we did not get any of the Greek surplus 30-06.

Handloads with 150gr FMJs might be easiest.

If its not cycling properly, I would get another recoil spring and cut it down to the gun cycles. There are some other things to check to make sure the gun functions in the 1919 like headspace. Some times the TWN guns also need some TLC to make sure the function properly as well.

Yes we did, I still have 3/4 of a spam can set aside for my 1903, P-17 & M1 Garand

A few years ago, the Greek government decided to scrap surplus small arms that it was holding, rather than sell them as surplus. The UN has been putting a lot of pressure on governments to do this. There may or may not be any more ammunition being released.
