took my new savage out to scarify some gophers.
i was using CCI 30 grain ammo and got a lot of ricochets. i don't recall having this problem with federal 50s.
ground was wet, no rocks and i wsn't shooting at "flat" angles..
makes me nervous because that's why i went to 22 mag - low noise, low velocity as compared to 222.
the ammo did it's job on the gophers but ricochets make me nervous.
since my original post i dug out the epmty cases. the cci 30 grain +V ricocheted a lot. the CCi 30 grain TNT didn't.
has anyone else noticed this on soft ground? the only thing i can think is with the heavy moisture in the ground it acts like water with the high velocity. water can cause ricochets.
