30 Remington

30 rem /30-30 winchester dies and of coarse different shell holder, brass has to be hunted for but can be found as with loaded ammo

I've talked to one guy who shot .30 Rem and he had a friend with a lathe turn the rims off of .30-30 cases and add an extractor groove. I think it cost him a case of beer to have 100 cases made up.

IMHO the 30 Rem is basically a rimless 30-30. I really like the 30 and 35 Remingtons.

I would consult with a few sources before using one load data for another though.

Everywhere I've looked, they say the data is interchangeable assuming normal load work-up procedures are done.
The Lee-Loader set I have (the mallet reloading kit) for .30-30 says it also works for .30 Rem and the included load data is for both interchangeably.

A Lee loader will work because it only resizes the neck. The 30 rem has a sharper shoulder angle so if using regular sizing dies you should use the proper ones. The 30 rem is almost a 30-30 AI lol.

Since it has a slightly greater case capacity 30-30 data should be safe to use. The converse is probably true but why use 30 rem data to load 30-30 when there is a plethora of info out there for the 30-30.

I always wanted to build a matching set of bolt rifles in 30
Rem and 35 Rem.

Thanks gentlemen! Looks like a few gunshow roadtrips are in order. Stupid spellcheck doesn't know what a gunshow is?

I have a couple of old, rimless, 30 Remington cartridges with a head stamp of, "30-30 REM."

Hey guys. Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I found a local shop that stocks 30 Remington brass. 100 shells for $95. Shipped to my door is about $125. Rustywood.ca is the site. Located in Mission BC. I also found a shop in Sask that sells preloads. $45 for a box of 20. Last Mountain Reloading is their name. I have been doing some research into does for the 30 Remington. RCBS makes die sets for them 29201 is full length sizing. 29202 is neck sizing only. But they are hard to find in Canada for decent price. Amazon has them for $235 plus shipping. I have also read what's been posted already as far as using a 30-30 neck sizing die set. The shoulder angles are different between the 2 shells. Enough that I wouldn't want to take the chance.

Also the 30 Remington shell should use these holders:

Hornady #12
Lyman #15
RCBS #19

With modest lead loads, your brass should last quite a while. I've just bought two Model 14's in .30 and some Redding dies. I've just started casting for the summer and some RCBS .30/30 bullets are on the production schedule.

update for those interested. I have contacted Ellwood Epps in Ontario. they have a few sets of 30 Remington RCBS dies in stock. the part number is 29201 $74.99 plus shipping. they are not posted on their website, so if you want to order you have to download the order form off their website, print it out, fill it out, fax or email it back to them. all I need to do now is order my reload kit, couple shell holders and a couple other things i will need. then hopefully i will be up and running hand loading my 30 Remington shells for my 1909 Standard Arms Model M

I ordered a set of dies and shell holder from Epp's on Tuesday. They were delivered today. Great service. Now I have to find some brass. I know I have a box of once fired somewhere. I also have 3 boxes of relatively new Rem factory but I really don't want to shoot them.
