There's both a 30-30 Savage 1899 and a 300 Savage 1899 in my family. I was thinking I'd like to experiment and see just how accurate these rifles can be in both calibres.

Frankly, they do pretty well with factory, but I'd still like to see what the 30-30 will do with a spitzer-type bullet. The 300 savage I have zero experience with.

Any thoughts?

My 99 in 300 does under two inches at 100 with a scope. Had a few that where under an inch. I just load up a a case and shoot them. But in the end it's not the caliber stamp it's the rifle.

Gonna reload? Win 748 is aces in both with all bullet weights.My .300 Sav shot 1/2 MOA or better with 42gr /win 748/150gr bullet.. 41gr /165gr bullet...... 40gr /180gr bullet..................on to the 30-30 34.5gr with 150gr bullet and 32gr /170gr bullet.............in a H+R 158 most in same hole....Harold

All 99's I've owned shot as good or better than most bolt guns........a dob of glass bedding at the fore end tip and play with the for end screw for barrel tension.it's as easy as that...............Harold
